I taste many wines every week, seeking interesting, special finds from small producers that are made with passion, care and focus with minimal interference and manipulation beyond what the fruit and terroir offer—a true artisanal approach. It’s rare that I am overwhelmed with excitement about a new wine, but Ferrer Bobet is one of those remarkable discoveries.
A DouxVin Exlusive Offer
Ferrer Bobet is the result of a passion for the world and culture of wine of two friends, Sergi Ferrer-Salat and Raül Bobet, and reflects their commitment to the economic and social development of Priorat. Their project was started in 2002, and in 2008 their first two wines were released. For their initial wines, Ferrer Bobet have used hundred-year old Carignane and Grenache vines planted on some of the best vineyards in Priorat.
I was recently introduced to the astounding 2014 Ferrer Bobet “Vinyas Velles” (“Old Vines”) a blend of Carignane (70%) and Grenache (30%), from hundred-year-old vines in some of the best vineyards in Priorat. I loved it so much I bought the entire remaining inventory, resulting in an attractive cost that can be passed on to our clients.
And the experts agree, this is an extraordinary wine:
