Colcombet Brut Eclat Champagne
Plenty of fruits and very aromatic. Its long length and acidity gives freshness and an excellent balance. Brut Eclat serves as a gastronomical aperitif amongst friends and family. Made with equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir, this full-bodied champagne is bright and silky - long on the palate with small, very fine bubbles. A perfect way to start the Holiday.
2019 Tolpuddle Chardonnay
This wonderful Tasmanian wine has emerged as one of Australia’s best chardonnays. Owners Michael Hill Smith and Martin Shaw (from the famed Shaw + Smith Winery) had a clear intention to establish a great single vineyard Chardonnay. Job Done! Minerality, flinty gun smoke and char merge into the pure and pristine fruit characters on the nose, then delivers with its deep concertation and highly sustained length. Textured, with a great balance of fruit and oak. This is a classy exceptional chardonnay, a “Devil of a wine”.
2014 Domaine Wachau Gruner Veltliner Terrassen Reserve
Fresh, fragrant, and lively: a wine that impresses with great drinking pleasure. Grapes were hand-picked from steep terraced vineyards throughout the Wachau valley with its unique microclimate and meagre primary-rock soils. It exhibits a very typical and consistent style of Grüner Veltliner from Wachau with plenty of fruit and a pronounced mineral character. A versatile food companion that will complement turkey and traditional sides.
2017 Guarachi Sun Chase Vineyard Pinot Noir
Balanced fruit, minerality and a lasting finish are hallmarks of this rich California Pinot Noir. Beautiful floral mix of rose petal and violet on the nose followed intricately by juicy, subtle red fruit and balanced acidity/minerality. Located in Petaluma Gap, Sonoma County, this region provides a cool maritime climate resulting in the ideal location for Pinot Noir. Decadent “Burgundian” style Pinot Noir from one of CA’s finest vineyards.
2020 Babylonstoren Cabernet Sauvignon
I’m often asked, given I’m from South Africa, why I don’t include more wines from one of the greatest wine regions in the world. Well here you go—a fantastic cab from a winery location that dates back to the 1600’s! New world indeed. A rich, full-bodied, indulgent wine.
Alvear Pedro Ximinez 1927
Alvear produces this sweet style of sherry in Montilla Moriles. Like all sherries from Montilla, this is made from 100% Pedro Ximenez. The impressive sherry, from a Solera begun nearly 100 years ago, boasts a dark amber color as well as an extraordinary nose of creme brulée, liquefied nuts, marmalade, and maple syrup. Huge and viscous, yet neither cloyingly sweet nor heavy, it is a profound effort. The perfect wine for the end of a meal.
